Delta Community Scholarship Program FAQs

Eligibility and Application Period

Q. Who is eligible for the Delta Community Credit Union Scholarship?
A. Applicant must be enrolled to attend an accredited college, university or trade school in the fall of the 2023-2024 academic year as a full-time student pursuing their first undergraduate degree.

Q. Do I have to be a member of Delta Community to apply?
A. Yes. The applicant must be the primary owner of their own account.

Q. What if I am under 18 years of age?
A. To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant or existing member aged 16 and 17 can open an account with an eligible joint owner and be the primary owner.

Q. What if I am not currently a Delta Community member?
A. There is not a required length of membership for eligibility. If an applicant is not currently a Delta Community member, they may open a new account prior to submitting the scholarship application. Go to
www.DeltaCommunityCU.com/Join to open an account.

Q. When is the application deadline?
A. Applications must be submitted by March 1, 2023
 by 11:59 PM (EST).

Q. How can the completed application be submitted?
A. Applications must be submitted via the online application found at
www.DeltaCommunityCU.com/Scholarships. No part of the application will be accepted by mail, email or at a branch.

Q. When will the winners be notified and announced?
A. Winners will be notified by phone and/or email by a Delta Community representative on April 5, 2023. An email will be sent to applicants who were not selected to receive a scholarship award.

 

Application Requirements

Q. How can I submit a copy of my transcript?
A. You must submit a copy of your transcript on the Attachments tab with your online application. Acceptable formats include a .jpg, .pdf or .png file. We will not accept copies of your transcript via email, mail, fax or at a branch. An unofficial copy of your transcript is acceptable.

Q. What is the required essay topic? How long should it be?
A. You are required to complete an essay of at least 300 words (not more than 500 words) on the following subject:
Delta Community continues to keep a pulse on emerging trends to ensure we’re offering our members innovative options to help them reach their goals in an ever-changing financial environment. What emerging trends or technologies have most impacted your goals for the future and how?  

Q. If I have not decided which college I’m attending, can I still apply?

A. Yes. However, the applicant must submit a letter of acceptance from an accredited college, university or trade school. Should the applicant be selected as a winner, Delta Community will verify which school the applicant has decided to attend prior to funding the scholarship.

Q. Am I required to submit an acceptance letter if I am already in college?
A. No. This requirement is only for current high school seniors who will be attending college for the first time in the fall of 2023.

Q. How can I include some additional things with my application that are not required?
A. If you’d like to include additional information with your application for consideration such as a photo, resume or recommendation you may do so from the Attachments tab, Other Attachments section. 

Application Account

Q. How do I know the status of my application?

A. Use the following key for your application status: Incomplete will display if your application is incomplete and has required fields that must be completed. Complete will appear if you have completed all required fields, but have not yet submitted your application. Once you have successfully submitted your application, Accepted will display in the Status column.
