Work Plan

A work plan is required for each entry and will count for half of your final score. Each work plan should include:

Business Need or Opportunity 
Explain the context by clearly establishing the business need and related opportunity. What was the purpose of this effort? What need or opportunity did it address? How did the need /opportunity affect the organization? What research supported the need for this project and the direction you chose?

Stakeholder Analysis
Describe your intended audience(s) and audience characteristics that caused you to select this solution over other available approaches. Who are you trying to reach and why? What insights do you have about this audience? 

Goals and Objectives
What measurable and/or specific objectives did you set for your project? How are goals and objectives aligned with the stakeholder analysis and business needs. How would you know if and when you succeeded?

Solution Overview
Provide insight into your strategic and/or creative approach and how it aligns with the busines needs and stated objectives. How was the stakeholder analysis used to inform messaging and creative approach? Provide an abbreviated tactical execution plan including its elements, schedules, budget, limitations, available resources, etc. 

Implementation and Challenges
Demonstrate how time and resources were used effectively. How did you deal with any limits or challenges that could have affected the results? How did you do what you did?

Measurement and Evaluation
What indicators did you use to measure each objective? What results were achieved? In other words: How successful were you?

Please make sure you have your work plan and work sample files ready for upload. Your work plan should be a single PDF file. Only one PDF file will be accepted for your work plan. Workplans should be no longer than four pages using a 10 pt font size minimum and margins of at least .5 inches on all sides.

The Communications Management Work Plan Template should be used for all entries in Divisions 1,2 and 3.  The Communications Skills Work Plan Template should be used for Division 4 Communications Skills entries and all Student entries. 

Work Timeframe

All eligible work must have been created, implemented, published or broadcast between January 1, 2017 and Feb. 1, 2018. If a long-term strategy was developed prior to January 1, 2017, but implementation continued into 2018 and the work hasn’t previously been entered, it is eligible for entry.

Work Sample(s)

After you submit your Work Plan, you will be able to upload a maximum of five Work Sample files. Your Work Sample files must be in .pdf, .png, .jpg, .gif, .tif, .mp3, .mp4, .wmv, .m4v, .mov formats. If you have more than five Work Sample files, you should combine them into fewer PDF files. Each file is limited to 2 GB (2,000 MB) in size.


You do not have to be an IABC member to enter.  If your entry depends mainly on syndicated, borrowed, reprinted or stock material, it may be disqualified. If you are an indepedent contractor or consultant and your work was done for a client, you must include client permission for your entry, or it may be disqualified.

Entry Deadline

Complete entry and payment must be received by midnight on April 6. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
