The East Central District of the Public Relations Society of America is calling for shining examples of public relations campaigns and tactics for its 40th annual Diamond Awards competition.  The Diamond Awards are presented to public relations practitioners who have successfuly addressed a communication challenge with exemplary skill, creativity and resourcefulness.

The Diamond Awards are open to any public relations professional who is a member of the 17 chapters in PRSA's East Central District or any nonmember whose place of business is within the District's boundaries.  The East Central District covers Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
 

Here's what you need to know.

Entry Divisions:

  • Profit-oriented organizations, such as manufacturing firms, retail operations, agencies, service companies, utilities, etc.
  • Non-profit organizations, such as health and welfare agencies or cultural and community groups.
  • Government entities, such as local, state and federal government bureaus or agencies, armed forces, chambers of commerce and educations institutions.
  • Professional, trade or industry associations or societies.

Entry Types:

  • Campaigns: Full public relations programs that are strategic, multifaceted and exemplify the four-step process designed to attain speci?c goals.
  • Tactics: A single project, such as a brochure, annual report, multimedia presentation, video, website, public service message or other communications tool prepared to accomplish a specified purpose. Individual items that are a part of a larger program or campaign may be entered as single examples only if the entire program is not entered.

Eligibility, Rules and Information:

To be eligible, part of the campaign or tactic must have been completed either during the last half of 2016, or any time prior to the 2017 entry deadline.

Each campaign entry must include a summary which describes the program and details research, planning, execution, budget and results. The summary must not exceed 5,500 characters (including spaces).

Each tactic entry must include a summary that outlines the project’s research, objectives, budget, design, quality and results. The summary must not exceed 5,500 characters (including spaces).

Each entry must be submitted in digital format and include:

•  completed entry form
•  typed summary
•  minimum of one and maximum of 10 supporting materials
•  75-word summary of entry and one graphic representative of entry
•  payment

Entry Deadlines and Fees:

  • The early entry deadline is September 8, 2017, and the fee is $65 for PRSA members, $85 for non-PRSA members.
  • The regular entry deadline is September 15, 2017, and the fee is $80 for PRSA members, $100 for non-PRSA members.
  • The extended entry deadline is September 22, 2017, and the fee is $95 for PRSA members, $120 for non-PRSA members.
