What are the eligibility requirements? Fees? Schedule? Rules? Entry formats? Release requirements?

How many times may I enter?

Other than Peer Promise (high school), you may submit as many entries as you wish under any of the production/skills categories.  Peer Promise entries are limited to two per entrant.


I want to submit the same work under multiple categories.  Do I have to create one entry for each category?

Yes.  However, there is a shortcut to streamline the process.  Under the View Entries tab there is a Copy feature.  This will copy everything from a previously submitted entry.  You may then change the category and save the entry.  Any uploaded video/audio will also be copied.


Can I submit an entry that was submitted in a previous year?

Yes, but you may not enter it into a category for which it previously won an award.  Additionally, the entry must meet all current eligibility requirements.

 

How do I pay for my entries?

Click on the Pay Online button on the View/Edit Entries page and follow the instructions.  Payments are processed through a secure TIVA-DC PayPal account.  You may pay with your own PayPal account or by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).  Fees are calculated at the time payment is received.


I want to make sure my video is presented in the highest quality possible.  How do I do that?

The Entry Upload tab under Add Entry will create a Flash version of your video.  The quality is quite good, but not high resolution.  The best approach for the highest quality is to provide a URL for your video using the Entry URL tab.  This should be a link to an HD version of the video through sites such as Vimeo or YouTube.  To retain anonymity, it is recommended these not be links to a “channel”.


I want to take advantage of the member rates.  How do I join TIVA?

Access the Join/Renew Membership option at the TIVA website www.TIVADC.org.  Once you sign up as a member, you will be eligible for member rates.


Why do you require the details of my entry such as the description, running time, date completed, and budget?

These help our judges better understand your work.  What was the purpose/goal?  Who was the intended audience?  Were there constraints under which the work was produced?  The details also help us verify the entry was properly categorized (e.g., a $25K video should not be included in the under $10K category).


Why do you ask for a suggested 30-second clip of my entry?

Each Gold winner will have 30 seconds of their entry presented at the Peer Awards Ceremony as the winner comes to the stage.  Also, we will prepare a sample reel to be shown during the dinner portion of the ceremony for attendees to enjoy.  We want to ensure the clip best represents your entry.


Can I make changes to my entry after it has been submitted?

Yes, but you will not be able to update a submitted entry yourself.  Contact PeerEntries@TIVADC.org to request changes to a submitted entry.

 

Will I be competing against other entries?

The TIVA-DC Peer Awards is a merit-based award judged solely on the individual merits of the entry. This is not a competition, rather an acknowledgement and celebration of exceptional quality work created by the DC/MD/VA region. This may result in categories receiving multiple awards as well as categories not receiving any awards.

 

Who judges my entry?

A panel of judges are selected on a volunteer basis from industry professionals in the MD, DC and VA region.


On what criteria will my entry be judged?

Production categories will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Objectives met;
  • Audience reached;
  • Design and organization;
  • Treatment;
  • Techniques;
  • Writing;
  • Directing;
  • Editing;
  • Artistic use of medium; and
  • Creativity.

Skills categories will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Overall quality;
  • Originality/imagination/innovation;
  • Effectiveness of skill to project; and
  • Best use of skill.

It is crucial that all fields on the entry form be completed as specifically as possible to aid the judges in their review.
 

When/where is the Peer Awards ceremony?

The Peer Awards ceremony is being scheduled for November, 2017.  Details will be posted once finalized.

 

Will I need to purchase a trophy/certificate if my entry is selected for an award?

There is no additional fee for awards/certificates presented the night of the Peer Awards ceremony.  All Gold Award recipients will receive a TIVA DC Peer Award trophy the night of the ceremony. Silver and Bronze recipients will receive an embossed certificate suitable for framing. Additional Gold trophies as well as Silver and Bronze trophies and/or certificates may be ordered for a nominal fee after the ceremony.  A special discount period will be offered for trophy/certificate orders immediately following the ceremony.
